Healing Hearts Pediatric Therapy Center will fill an important role providing a variety of therapeutic interventions all under one roof.  These therapies will improve the quality of life for children with autism, cerebral palsy, motor-developmental delays and other neuro-motor disorders.

Summary of Therapies:

1. Suit Therapy- A unique and specialized physical therapy program based on the Adeli suit, first used by Russian Astronauts to  prevent muscle atrophy in space.  It utilizes bungee  cords around a specialized suit to pull muscles into the proper alignment so children can have more independent function.  It is used in conjunction with other therapeutic modalities to enhance the effectiveness of the suit.

2. Aquatic Therapy- This therapy uses the therapeutic properties of the water, such as buoyancy, turbulence, hydrostatic pressure, and warmth, to assist in muscle strengthening, stretching, motor planning, body awareness, endurance, and sensory integration.  Combining all of these therapeutic modalities into one treatment session results in a very intense, fast paced and fun treatment , with carryover into improved land based function.

3. Physical Therapy-This type of therapy focuses on gross motor skills, strengthening and stretching muscles, improving postural alignment to achieve maximal function.

4. Occupational Therapy- This therapy focuses on a variety of skills for improved activities of daily living.  It works on fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory-integration, and visual and auditory processing. They also work in conjunction with Speech and Language Pathologists on Assistive Technology. 

5. Speech and Language Therapy- This therapy focuses on improved expressive and receptive communication, as well as articulation.

6. Music Therapy- This therapy uses music to motivate children and reinforce their therapy goals.

7. Massage Therapy- This treatment focuses on stretching and relaxing tight muscles throughout the body.

8. Craniosacral therapy- This type of therapy uses a gentle approach to restore the balance of how the fluid pulsates around your brain and spinal cord, which surrounds  all of  your nerves, muscles and organs.  Tightness in these deep structures has profound effects on how you function. 

9. Social work- As part of a multidisciplinary team, social workers provide critical support services to children with special needs and their families.

10. Tutoring programs- Using principles of applied behavior analysis, we offer 1:1 tutoring for language and academic skills including reading (decoding and comprehension), writing (handwriting mechanics and written expression) and math (basic skills and problem solving).  We also offer social skills classes that emphasize social thinking as a way to help students with social challenges develop the skills they need to get along with others.
